Cold Winter Mornings

Now that the clocks have gone back, we’re finding that once again the dark nights are creeping upon us quicker, the mornings colder and darker than they were a week ago and we feel Winter is well and truly lingering in the air. One of the most important things that you can do in the coming days and weeks is to try and get your home prepared for the coming winter. You can even read our article if you need any help. If you have been getting a build up of condensation between your double glazed windows, you may be thinking that it is time to change them and bring a fresh new look to your home in time for winter. If you do then Evesham Glass and Glazing are your local glazing experts that will be glad to help you make the right choice. However, before you do that why not see if any of these fixes help?

Why Do I Get A Build Up Of Condensation

The main reason that you are starting to get condensation in between the two panes of glass is due to the seal on your windows being broken. Unfortunately, there is no quick way to fix this issue. As the seal has been broken air is going to seep into the unit and cause a build up of condensation.

How To Prevent Condensation

There are a few ways in which you can prevent condensation, however, if the seal has been broken on your double glazed windows then these are going to have to be replaced.

Open Your Windows

A good tip to prevent condensation is to open your windows up, providing it isn’t a cold day. This will help to release the warm moisture that is being confined in your home.

Increase The Temperature

If you increase the temperature in your home this will reduce the amount of condensation that will build up upon your windows. This is mainly because condensation happens when the warm air inside your house hits a cold surface (Your window)

Purchase A Dehumidifier

You could also invest in a dehumidifier. Dehumidifiers are relatively cheap to buy and run depending on the size. These work by withdrawing the moisture that is in the air and collecting it in a tank. These are great for older homes that may not have any cavity wall insulation.

Give Your Windows A Clean

If you think that you have a build up of condensation between your two panes of glass a good tip would be to give them a good clean. Not only is it the perfect time to do so as it may be the last time you do it before the winter season rolls on through. It is important to clean your windows as the what you may think is condensation could actually be grease, or household cleaning supplies that have not been used properly.
